WORDS  of  THE VISUALS

But since 2016 really sucked the heck out of everyone, my sister and I vowed we’d make the most of 2017. And we managed to push mom and dad to book a 3-day vacation in Boracay (something I want to consider an achievement).

We got there around noon, so the first thing we did was eat lunch hahaha–but right after, we went straight to the beach (because duh!).

We stayed at Astoria Boracay along Station 1, where I heard has finer and softer sands than stations 2 and 3. True enough, it does! It was like flour, tbh. The last time I was in Boracay was more than a decade ago, so it was almost kind of my first time as well. And the sunset did. not. disappoint.

So basically everything was good and well the first day. The water was perfect, the sand was perfect, the sunset was divine, and I couldn’t wait to enjoy them the whole day the next day. But I’ve never been exactly “lucky” with vacations–there’s always something happening, TRUST ME. And for this trip, it was 1) the films I ordered did not arrive on time for the trip so I had to use my DSLR instead, which turned out to be a blessing for the next mishap: 2) Mother Nature dropped the monthly red bomb on me. ZZZZZ

So I just took videos and photos around while they enjoyed the beach. 🙃🙃🙃 (but hey, at least I got some shots here and there and that’s a fair win to me either way!)

(ya ok, liar)

I mean, OBVIOUSLY I’ve been taking portrait photos again, but whatevs, I couldn’t go further off the shore. (huhuhuhuhu) And I’m gonna admit there was a little bitterness that my mom was actually rocking her low-back one piece (yaaaass mom!!), and I was by the shore wearing shorts and reading crime fiction.

Long overdue–but I’m posting some photos from our Palawan trip last March. Just wanted to share some shots from the roll.

Quick story: for some reason, my first roll turned out to not have any photos in it– I figured that it might’ve failed to cling to the sprocket properly or something (even though everything was turning well the whole time but whatever). Anyway, so I lost 36 photos BUT OK imma just let that one go (cue tears).

We stayed at Astoria Palawan, where surprisingly their beach front & shoreline stretched so far, we didn’t really get the chance to swim around (we took photos around tho, obv). To be honest, the whole trip was more of an adventure type of vacation than the swimming type.

We toured around the city, but photos from there were supposedly all on my 1st roll (which Imma learn to let go but still pains me to this day huhuhu whyyyy ;____;), so it’s gone now. But I saw this SUPER CUTE gypsy themed cafe!!! ;___; Ugh, I wish I still have the photos but it was so perfect, I swear. We also went to Baker’s Hill, where i took a lot of Peacock photos (not the pop culture slang, I mean the actual animal).

UGH ANYWAY no use in crying over spilled milk.

After that, we did a little island hopping around Honda Bay and visited the underground river (WHICH IS CRAZY MAJESTIC. I don’t have photos from the inside of the cave because I don’t want to use flash and I was just really amazed and taking in everything–Nature is amazing yalls.)

It’s a shame that we didn’t have enough time to tour around Puerto Princesa more– our tour guide told us a lot more interesting spots to visit. I also kinda feel bad that we didn’t get to swim that much (the heat was I N T E N S E, even for a swim!).

But I’d definitely go back to Palawan; maybe visit El Nido or Coron. One thing’s for sure: I’m double-checking that film loaded on my camera.

I finally got the chance to stitch up together a video diary of our Korea trip last May 2015. I didn’t want to end this year without ticking this out of my to-do list, so here it is (A LOT has happened the previous semester and I was not able to whip up some time to do this, hence this super late video).

Making this, I really missed the time we had back then: springtime and care. free.

I also realized I should start taking more videos and making more of these; and not because I want to be “like the cool kids” (because I never will be anyway lol), but because I love watching the smiles on my travel buddies’ faces whenever they watch it. It’s so fulfilling and I like the idea that I get to translate all the memories visually to them.

MUSIC: Cheap Sunglasses – RAC NOTE: Used Sony Vegas Pro for the editing because I don’t have Adobe Premier right now, and the rendering is rather sloppy, as you can see. (sigh)
